UNP expels 1137 LG members from party

UNP working committee yesterday decided to expel some 1137 of its local government members who have decided to support other parties.

Party sources said the disciplinary committee had decided on the course of action as these members have not cooperated during the inquiries.

Some of the members who are to be expelled are ones who have got the ticket to contest from other parties.

This is a good move. You are now in power , pass on a priority basis, crossover members to forego their elected representative position and repay all allowances and salaries enjoyed by him/her while been an elected representative in parliament/local government bodies up to the time of cross over. This is imperative.
