NAWALAPITIYA (Daily Mirror) - Two students of the Rambukpitiya Maha Vidyalaya in Nawalapitiya were rushed to the Nawalapitiya District General Hospital after the principal had allegedly forced them to eat polythene and newspapers.
The incident had occurred during the students' lunch break, involving a class of 33 children, seven of whom had brought their meals wrapped in polythene and newspaper pages. Witnesses reported that as these seven students were about to put the polythene into the school bags, the principal intervened and ordered them to eat the polythene and newspaper pages on the spot.
The students complied with the principal's orders and ate the harmful materials. Among the seven affected children, a 21-year-old and a 22-year-old student were later admitted to the Nawalapitiya District General Hospital by their parents.
