Two killed as bus, three-wheeler collide head-on

Colombo, July 02 (Daily Mirror) - A 60-year-old woman and her 13-year-old grandson were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a three-wheeler on the Galle–Colombo main road in the Katukurunda area in Payagala early Thursday morning.

According to police, the accident occurred when a three-wheeler traveling from Beruwala toward Kalutara collided head-on with a passenger bus traveling from Colombo to Matara in the opposite direction.

The deceased, both residents of Kalutara South, were seated in the rear of the three-wheeler and died at the scene. The three-wheeler driver and another female passenger sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Nagoda General Hospital in Kalutara for treatment.

Police have taken the bus driver into custody while investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
