Two arrested with fags, 720 bottles of foreign liquor, 4,700 kg of turmeric
Two suspects have been arrested with a consignment of foreign cigarettes, 720 bottles of foreign liquor and 4,700 kg of turmeric worth more than Rs.10 million during a raid by the STF at Kiribathgoda.
The STF said initially they had arrested two suspects while transporting 40,000 sticks of illegally imported cigarettes in Kiribathgoda yesterday.
The STF searched a house at Hunupitiya in Wattala following the questioning the suspects who are from Kotmale. They recovered 720 bottles of foreign liquor and 4,700 kg of turmeric, believed to have been smuggled into the country.
The suspects and the seized goods were handed over to the Kiribathgoda Police.(DSB)
