Two arrested for kidnapping school girl; main suspect at large



KALUTARA (Daily Mirror) - The Kalutara South Police arrested a three-wheeler driver and a woman following a complaint over an alleged kidnapping of a female school student.

However, the main suspect, a 16-year-old male school student has managed to escape the area.

The incident unfolded when the female school student had been forcibly taken into a three-wheeler by the male school student in the Heantiangala area of Kalutara.

Another schoolgirl, who witnessed the incident, intervened and boarded the three-wheeler in an attempt to rescue her friend.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect physically assaulted both girls inside the three-wheeler and took the duo to a residence of another woman, who was also arrested.

Upon learning of the incident, the school principal was informed, and subsequently, the matter was reported to the police. A police team was immediately dispatched to search the area. 

During the operation, the two female students were found in the vicinity of the Kalutara Police Training School, after having been transported in the three-wheeler. The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody by the police.

Police have stated that the two girls will be taken to the hospital for medical examinations, while the arrested suspects will be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate. 

The investigations into the alleged kidnapping are continuing as authorities are yet to arrest the main suspect.
