Tuk Tuk fares reduced; Rs.100 per km, Rs. 80 from 2nd km: Union
Following a fuel price revision, the All-Island Three-Wheeler Drivers' Union (AITWDU) has decided to reduce the three-wheeler fares from today.
AITWDU President Lalith Dharmasekera told the Daily Mirror that they had announced to reduce the fares for the first and second kilometers.
Accordingly, the charges for the first kilometer will be Rs.100 and the second kilometer will be Rs.80 from today.
However, the association today requested that the meter taxi drivers reduce the fare according to the announcement.
Meanwhile, the association expressed their displeasure with the Power and Energy Minister for not taking action to increase their weekly fuel quota to 15 liters.
Several requests were made, but no response was received by the minister, they alleged.
However, with the decision on fuel price reduction, the three-wheeler association has decided to grant that concession to the consumers by reducing the taxi fare, Dharmasekera said.
Earlier, the three-wheeler fare for the first kilometer was Rs. 120 and Rs. 100 for the second kilometer. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
