Transport Ministry to register assembled motorcycles with higher engine capacity

The Transport Ministry has decided to register unregistered motorcycles with high engine capacity under a legal framework.

Minister c instructed the ministry officials to prepare a proper system soon for the above matter.

The decision was taken following requests made by several sports clubs. Those associations had requested the minister provide a proper way to register the motorcycles that were brought to Sri Lanka and assembled with engine capacities above 450 cc. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

450CC was banned for reasons. Now to give life to it someone must have received a benefit. Granting a special registration for 450cc bikes cab be accepted if they can only run on race tracks and not public roads

Good move, they will anyway comply with traffic rules in spite of the higher capacity. This will bring more revenue to the government and help enthusiasts to practice their favorite sport. What took the government this long?

What's the commission received and from whom? When we have to reduce the consumption of petrol, which fool will allow the importation of motorcycles which will consume more petrol and take $$ out of the country, that too when we are running around the world with a begging bowl!

l registered 2013 and ran on road till 2017 and police accused numerous dragging for years plus damaging the bike and time wealth job all of mine and gov. And expect promotion or bribe for non trial. These goons are never to be trusted cz several times youths have suicide for such harassments. Its better to live your life than kill yourselves for a bike in unsafe roads here

Just make the system work! Rules to apply to everyone. Then even if it’s 50cc or 1000cc it doesn’t matter.

Why legalise the illegal. Last time I checked it was illegal to assemble motorbikes bought as parts. So the loss to the government is not taken into account? Are they paying the lost revenue based on the import duty? Best way forward is to take out the ban on 450cc above engine capacity
