Train services on Kelani Valley Line resumes

Train operations on the Kelani Valley Line have returned to normal this morning (20) following yesterday’s derailment between Kosgama and Avissawella railway stations.

Railway authorities confirmed that restoration work at the site was completed overnight, and services on the line are now operating as usual.

The derailment occurred yesterday evening after a tree and a section of earth had fallen onto the track due to heavy rainfall, causing one wheel of the train to slip off the rails. No injuries were reported.
