Train fares to increase from tomorrow night

The Sri Lanka Railway Department has increased its ticket fares from tomorrow night, Railways General Manager, Dhammika Jayasundara said.

He said the gazette notification on this revision was sent to print.

As such, the train fares will be increased by an amount equivalent to half the bus fare for the identical distance.

The GMR said that with the expenses incurred on fuel, it would not be possible to increase train trips. (Chatruanga Samarawickrama)
