Train derails between Wanawasala and Kelaniya; Two Injured

Colombo, May 16 (Daily Mirror) - A train travelling from Polgahawela to Colombo Fort derailed between the Wanawasala and Kelaniya railway stations early this morning, causing disruptions to train services on the main railway line.

According to Railways General Manager Travel Asanka Samarasinghe, the accident occurred at around 5.40 a.m. today. One of the train carriages reportedly came off the tracks and fell onto the railway line following the derailment.

Two individuals sustained injuries in the incident and were admitted to hospital for further treatment.

Railway authorities said train operations on the main line have been affected as a result of the accident, while the Railways Department has launched further investigations to determine the cause of the derailment.
