Traffic restrictions on Colombo-Kandy Road due to Central Expressway construction

Colombo, Nov. 3 (Daily Mirror) - The Police Media Division has issued a notice regarding traffic restrictions on the Colombo-Kandy main road due to ongoing work on the Central Expressway Project.

The notice states that a bridge will be constructed on the Colombo-Kandy main road near the Kadawatha-Bandarawatta area in two phases, from 1st November 2025 to 31st January 2026.

During the first phase, one lane of the two-lane road from Kadawatha-Bandarawatta to Colombo will be closed. In the second phase, one lane from Kandy to Colombo will be closed for the continuation of bridge construction.

The police warned that traffic congestion is likely throughout the construction period due to the lane closures. Motorists are advised to use the Kadawatha Outer Ring Road whenever possible to avoid delays.
