KATUNAYAKA (Daily Mirror) - Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested this afternoon at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to flee to Malaysia using forged Malaysian visas.

The suspects were arrested at the departure terminal of the airport by a group of officers of the Immigration Border Enforcement Unit.

The suspects were 41, 37, and 19 years old, and all were Bangladeshi nationals. The suspects had arrived in Sri Lanka from Kathmandu, Nepal, using a visit visa.

They had arrived at the BIA on an Indigo Airlines flight to depart for Hyderabad, India, this afternoon.

The airport officials, who were suspicious of the visas and other documents that they had submitted for their airline clearance activities, had referred them to the officials of the Immigration and Emigration Border Enforcement Unit.

During the technical checks, it was confirmed that these Malaysian visas were forged.
