Tense situ: Parliament proceedings suspended for ten minutes



Parliament sessions were suspended for ten minutes due to a tense situation which erupted in Parliament a short while ago.

Opposition MPs started shouting slogans and displaying posters "Gota Go home" when Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was making a statement regarding the progress of the IMF talks.

Then, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardhane  suspended the sessions for ten minutes.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who was present in the House to attend sessions, left the chamber after the session was suspended. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
