TRCSL denies social media claims of telecom price hikes

The Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) today denied reports circulating on social media about an increase in charges by telecommunication service providers for their packages.

Addressing the media, TRCSL Director Indrajith Handapangoda said that no authority has been granted to any telecommunication service providers to raise their charges.

Following the reports circulating on social media, the TRCSL immediately inquired with all telecommunication service providers. In response, all providers gave written assurances that they have not increased charges for their packages.

The TRCSL Director urged consumers not to be misled by false information circulating on social media.

He also stated that the Commission is taking legal action, in accordance with existing laws, against individuals or institutions responsible for publishing such misleading news items.

Additionally, the Director requested consumers to report to the Commission any evidence of unauthorized package price increases by service providers, as such actions would constitute a violation of the conditions set by the Commission.

They have clearly increased where is the mobitel 968 package now. They forced us to shift to 1298 or 1989.Those new packages have limits and we have to pay more. Many people complaint to trcsl via their website. Not sure they received the compiants. Myself send all the info with screenshot. Few month back. I even received a reply. Asking package changed or not from companies like asking robbers are they robbed or not. This kind of lazy department can't do a simple research about it or are they bribed by so called companies

The Hutch package I use is Rs. 166 for 300 minutes for any net. Now from this month the same package costs Rs. 235. How can you say there is no increase?

Even SLT has removed some packages. User has to pay high for new packages. This is shame. TRCSL is a useless department. At least, you guys can not make internet prices affordable

Same with dialog ,their triple blaster package gets more and more expensive with the same facilities.Pleasr investigate.The different rate of packages from last year to now.It is in black and white.
