Stock market crashes as S&P SL20 fallen over 11 percent

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has technically crashed as S&P SL20 has fallen over 11 percent as of now.

Soon after the market opened at 10.00 a.m., the trading was halted for 30 minutes with S&P SL20 falling over 5 percent.

Regular trading recommenced at 10.32 a.m.

The trading was resumed at CSE today after almost a week due to coronavirus holidays.

The Central Bank yesterday slapped significant import restrictions to defend the currency, which has lost value against the US dollar.
