Colombo, Feb. 2 (Daily Mirror) - The United National Party (UNP) is to embark on a mission to digitalize the party activities with a special digitalized process assisted by Starlink, Party General Secretary Harin Fernando said today.
The launch will take place on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
“At this event, the official appointment of Digital Wardens covering all electoral wards across Sri Lanka will be formally launched. As an initial phase, 1,000 Digital Wardens will be appointed on this day. This initiative aims to make the party’s organisational processes more efficient, faster and closer to the people,” Fernando said.
“In addition, the new UNP mobile application (UNP App) will also be officially introduced. This app will provide a new digital platform for party members, organisers and the general public to facilitate information sharing, awareness and stronger connectivity. Another key highlight of this digital launch will be the official commissioning of the Starlink high-speed internet connectivity at the Sirikotha party headquarters. This will further strengthen the party’s digital communication capabilities. Building a people-centered, innovative and technology-driven political culture remains a core objective of the United National Party, and this digital launch marks an important step in that direction,” he added.
