Katunayaka (September 11) Daily Mirror - SriLankan Airlines resumed its operations to Nepal today (11) with the departure of flight UL-181 from Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to Kathmandu, following the reopening of the Kathmandu International Airport by Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority.

SriLankan Airlines Manager Coprorate Communications, Deepal Perera, said the airline had suspended services to Nepal yesterday (10) after the closure of the airport due to the ongoing conflict in the country.

BIA officials confirmed that the airline had provided accommodation and hotel facilities to 35 excess passengers who had arrived yesterday expecting to travel to Kathmandu.

The resumed service departed BIA at 8.15 a.m. today and is scheduled to land in Kathmandu at 11.41 a.m. The return flight from Kathmandu is expected to arrive at BIA at 4.40 p.m. carrying passengers back to Colombo.

SriLankan Airlines is currently the only carrier operating flights between Colombo and Kathmandu. The service will operate four days a week Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Mr. Perera said.
