Sri Lanka and the European Union (EU) will hold the 27th meeting of the Sri Lanka–EU Joint Commission in Colombo on February 12 (Thursday), the Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Ministry announced.
The meeting will bring together senior officials from both sides to review the current state of bilateral relations and explore ways to strengthen cooperation in key areas, including governance, human rights, trade, development assistance, as well as bilateral and regional issues.
The discussions will be co-chaired by Aruni Ranaraja, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, and Paola Pampaloni, Acting Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service (EEAS).
During the visit, the EU delegation is also expected to meet with senior Sri Lankan leaders to exchange views on enhancing collaboration and to identify practical steps to further advance the partnership.
The Sri Lanka–EU Joint Commission serves as the main institutional mechanism guiding relations between the two sides, providing a structured forum for dialogue and cooperation on political, economic and development-related matters.
