Sri Lanka has reinforced its partnership with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) during the Dubai Air Show 2025 (DAS25).
Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation and CEO of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), held productive discussions with the ICAO delegation, building on outcomes from the 42nd ICAO Assembly in Montreal, Canada.
The talks focused on safe and secure aviation, environmental sustainability, and efficient global air transport. Key outcomes included:
Positioning Sri Lanka as a South Asian aviation training hub.
Expanding technical cooperation and capacity-building programs through ICAO.
Bringing in international experts for training, workshops, and seminars to raise industry standards.
Supporting aviation development projects in Sri Lanka, including airport infrastructure, air navigation, and training facilities.
The ICAO team included Mr. Christian Khouzam, Mr. Mekki Lahlou, and Ms. Sara Kocnim, who later held a follow-up meeting with Capt. Rambukwella at the Dubai Air Show.
Now in its 21st edition, the Dubai Air Show is the world’s largest aviation exhibition, drawing over 148,000 attendees and 1,500 companies from more than 150 countries, providing a key platform for global aviation collaboration and innovation.
