Discussing ways to advance Sri Lanka’s engagement under the Employment Permit System (EPS) and broaden collaboration beyond existing frameworks, Foreign Affairs and Overseas Employment Deputy Minister Arun Hemachandra, met with officials of the Korean Human Resources Development Institute (HRDK) in Seoul yesterday (24).
The discussions focused on enhancing Sri Lanka’s participation in the EPS, addressing waiting list challenges, improving transparency, and ensuring efficient processing of employment applications. The talks also highlighted strengthening Korean language skills, promoting workplace discipline, and improving pre-departure orientation and technical training for Sri Lankan workers.
Deputy Minister highlighted Sri Lanka’s commitment to building deep institutional partnerships aimed at talent development, safeguarding the welfare of its overseas workforce, raising professional standards, and cultivating a skilled, reliable workforce that meets international expectations.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Lim Seung Mook, Vice President for Overseas Labor and Global Employment at HRDK, along with a senior delegation of Korean officials.
