Sri Lanka is facing diplomatic sanctions: Sajith

Sri Lanka is facing diplomatic sanctions and other kinds of embargos following the attack on Galle Face protesters, Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa said today.

Speaking to political allies who have come together to convert the opposition leader's office  into a National Reforms Secretariat, Mr. Premadasa said the top brass of the government should take a serious note of this situation and avoid sanctions.

“We have heard that discussions are taking place in major cities in the world to impose diplomatic sanctions on Sri Lanka and to enforce other kinds of embargos. It is the common citizens of this nation who are going to suffer in the event of sanctions. Therefore the top brass have to take steps to avoid such a situation. It the top brass who should set an example and bring about reconciliation among political groups,” Mr. Premadasa said.

He said the Opposition Leader’s office will be converted into a secretariat of national reforms. (Yohan Perera)
