Special traffic plan for Colombo on Christmas eve

Colombo, Dec. 23 (Daily Mirror) - Police has announced a special traffic plan to ease congestion in Colombo on Christmas Eve, December 24, in anticipation of large crowds and increased vehicular movement.

The Police Media Division said that a significant number of people and vehicles are expected to gather around Galle Face Green and several other areas in the city for Christmas celebrations. 

It As a result, alternative routes and designated parking arrangements have been introduced to facilitate smoother traffic flow.

Police warned that heavy traffic congestion is likely in the Pettah, Colombo Fort, Kompanna Veediya, Maradana, Kollupitiya, Bambalapitiya and Cinnamon Gardens police divisions.

While no traffic restrictions have been imposed at present, police said a special traffic plan will be implemented tomorrow if severe congestion is reported.
