Special commodity levy on sugar increased
While issuing a special gazette notification, the Finance Ministry has taken steps to increase the special commodity levy imposed on sugar from tonight.
Accordingly, the tax for a kilogram of sugar has been increased from 25 cents to Rs. 50, the Ministry said.
The revised levy will come into effect for a period of one year till November 2, 2024.
