Colombo , Feb 19 (Daily Mirror) - A special cataract surgery programme aimed at reducing the waiting list of patients suffering from cataracts will be held on February 28 and March 1 at Gampola Hospital.
The programme is being conducted and organised by the College of Ophthalmology of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society President Sampath De Silva said the initiative is part of an ongoing effort to address the backlog of patients awaiting cataract surgeries and to restore sight to those in need.
Cataract removal surgeries are scheduled to be performed on 500 patients during the programme.
Health officials noted that the series of surgical programmes is being carried out islandwide to strengthen eye care services and provide timely treatment to affected patients.
