Sinopec Lanka announces fuel retail prices

Sinopec Lanka today published their latest fuel retailing prices with effect from today.

Accordingly, the Sinopec retail price of a litre of petrol 92 will be Rs.358, Petrol 95 will be Rs.414, a litre of Lanka auto diesel will be Rs. 338, Lanka super diesel wil be Rs.356 and the retail price of a litre of Kerosene will be Rs.231.

The pricing is applicable to all Sinopec franchise filling stations in the country and valid till the next release published by Sinopec Lanka. Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

We need at-least 4 companies to compete in the fuel market. It will lead to more competition, more investments and finally a very cost effective fuel retail market. This will force ceypetco to be more efficient as well.

When Sinopec Srilanka sells fuel at a lesser price undercutting the Lanka Ceypetco , this will lead to the latter experiencing greater losses. Is this move intentionally made to eventually sell off Lanka Ceypetco on the grounds of it running at a loss ?
