Showery condition to enhance during next few days



Colombo, Nov.27 (Daily Mirror) - Showery weather conditions are expected to enhance over most parts of the island for the next few days, starting today (27), the forecasting division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

Showers will occur in the Eastern, Northern and North-Central Provinces after 2:00 p.m. in other provinces.

Fairly heavy showers of about 75mm are likely at some places in the Eastern, Uva, Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, showers will occur in the sea areas off the coast, extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Kankesanthurai and Trincomalee. Showers may occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island, particularly during the afternoon or night.

The winds will be north-easterly. The wind speed will be 40 kmph in the sea areas off the coast, extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Puttalam, Kankesanthurai, and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara. The wind speed will be 30 kmph in the other sea areas around the island.

The sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Puttalam and Kankesanthurai and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara will be moderate and slight in the other sea areas around the island.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
