Showers likely in Western and hill country areas



Colombo, July 2 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department says a few showers are expected in several parts of the country today (02), while strong winds are likely to prevail in some areas.

According to the weather forecast issued at 5.30 a.m., a few showers may occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Meanwhile, fairly strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces, and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

The public, particularly those in areas prone to strong winds, have been advised to take necessary precautions.
