Showers above 75mm on the cards today

Fairly heavy showers above 75mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, the Department of Meteorology forecast.

In its latest weather report, the Department said showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces in the island after 02.00 p.m.

"Showers will also occur in the Eastern Province and in the Hambantota and Jaffna districts during the morning as well,"

Meanwhile, it stated that misty conditions could be expected at some places in thr Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva Provinces during the morning.

"Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Hambantota via Batticaloa," the Department added.
