Several trains cancelled so far due to lack of engine drivers
A total of 34 train services have been cancelled due to lack of operators, the Railways Department said.
The department said the engine drivers who had gone on leave for the new year had not reported for duty today.
Therefore, the said number of trains had to be canbelled up to this evening.
The department said the number of cancellations may increase by the end of the day.
The Kandy-Badulla train was also canceled reportedly due to its engine drivers not reporting for duty. (Chaturang Pradeep Samarawickrama)
