Several districts hit by intense downpours

Sri Lanka has experienced exceptionally heavy rainfall across multiple regions over the past 24 hours.

According to the Department of Meteorology, the highest rainfall was recorded in Cheddikulam, Vavuniya, with 315 mm, while Alapalli in Mullaitivu reported 305 mm. Kandy received 223.9 mm, and Madu in Mannar recorded 218.5 mm. Significant rainfall was also reported from Madampe in Ratnapura (208 mm), Anuradhapura (203.6 mm) and Trincomalee (201 mm).
