The Katunayake International Airport has recorded delays in arrivals and departures of several flights due to heavy rains experienced in the Katunayake Airport area last night and today.
The SriLankan Airline flight UL-226, which was scheduled to arrive at Katunayake Airport today (08) at 04.45 am arrived only at 04.55 pm, a delay of almost 12 hours.
The SriLankan Airline flight UL-454, which was scheduled to depart from Katunayake Airport yesterday (07) at 07.15p.m for Narita, Japan, departed only at 01.50 a.m. this morning.
The SriLankan Airline dlight UL-141, which was scheduled to depart from Katunayake Airport to Mumbai, India yesterday at 11.40 PM, had been cancelled.
Therefore, SriLankan Airline flight UL-142, which was scheduled to arrive at Katunayake Airport from Mumbai at 05.35 am today, has also been cancelled.
In addition, China Eastern Airlines flight MU-231 which was scheduled to land at Katunayake Airport yesterday (7) at 7:00 p.m. from Shanghai, China, was diverted to Malé Airport in the Maldives due to the heavy rains around Katunayake Airport at that time.
Moreover, SriLankan Airline flight UL-230, which was scheduled to arrive at Katunayake Airport yesterday at 06.10 pm was delayed and landed at Mattala International Airport at 07.33 am today.
