Due to the conflict between Hamas and Israel, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has granted permission for the seventeen members, who belonged to three Sri Lankan families, to enter Egypt through the Rafah Border, which is the sole crossing point between Egypt and the Gaza Strip, embassy sources revealed.
Foreign Employment Bureau Deputy General Manager Gamini Senarath Yapa said fifteen out of them would get permission to cross the border, as another two of them were Palastine nationals.
It was reported that all arrangements have been made from the Egypt Ambassador's office and the Palestine Branch office.
No emergency situation has been reported for Sri Lankans in Israel so far, and their safety has been assured by the Israeli government, Yapa said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
