Separate road accidents leave three persons dead



Three individuals were killed in separate road accidents in Meegoda, Uhana and Anuradhapura, according to the police.

One of the accidents occurred in Meegoda last morning when a 74-year-old woman crossing the road was knocked down by a motorcyclist. The victim was a resident of Godagama.

In Uhana, another motorcyclist collided with a tree along the Ampara-Kandy Road last night. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries.

In Anuradhapura, a cyclist was hit from behind by a lorry last morning, resulting in an unfortunate death of a 26-year-old person who died upon admission to the hospital.

Further investigations into these incidents are being carried out by the respective police stations. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
