Schools will function three days next week: Edu. Ministry

The Education Ministry will continue functioning government and government approved private schools for three days a week until next Friday (5).

The decision was taken at the discussion held at the ministry this morning. Accordingly, schools will function three days during next week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

The discussion was held through the zoom technology with the participation of the ministry Secretary, additional secretaries, National Institute of Education (NIE) Director General, directors and provincial directors of education through online.

Also, a decision was taken to continue with online teaching practices on Wednesday and Friday when schools are not functioning.

Arranging flexible timetables for students and teachers will be done to adjust the situation. Schools that do not need transport facilities can function on Wednesdays and Fridays after coming into agreements with principals, teachers and zonal educational directors.

However, transport facilities for children and teachers will be provided and current bus fare is applicable for the service, the Ministry said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
