The Education Ministry has issued a special missive recommending schools to function every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until further notice, as well as to continue with online teaching practices on Wednesdays and Fridays when schools are not functioning.
According to the letter, it has been advised to conduct school activities such as administration and to continue studies without causing disturbances after reopening schools on Monday (25).
Accordingly, the first school term for the year 2022 will be extended until September 7. The duration of the second and third terms will be announced later.
A time table should be created to cover the syllabi during the three days where the schools are held.
It is compulsory for students to attend school on time, but they should not be inconvenience if they are unable to come to school on time for acceptable reasons.
The students should wear school uniforms. But students must not be discouraged for their shortcomings in their uniforms. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
