Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that interested groups may try to harm his life in order to stop him from contesting the next presidential elections.

Mr. Premadasa who was speaking at a public meeting in Kirindi Oya said those who are insisting that he will not contest the presidential election may be behind a move to make an attempt on his life.

“Some are insisting that I will not contest the presidential elections as the rival candidate of incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe. I will contest if am alive. I could contest only if I am alive during the time the election is held. Therefore, I wonder whether my life is in danger when they insist that I will not contest,” Mr.Premadasa said.(Yohan Perera)

Out of political wisdom, Her Premadasa should not participate in the presidential election, jump over his shadow and resign in favor of by far the best candidate of his party, Sarath Fonseka !!! This increases the SJB's chances of winning considerably, reduces the potential voters of the SLPP to the incorrigible rest of the fanatical supporters, beats Ranil and will decisively provide the future government! With Fonseka as the candidate, a "united" opposition has the best chance of winning the election against Ranil Wickremesigne!!!

@ RS; Then why doesn't Rani hold the elections, by withdrawing all the circulars, preventing the release of funds and stopping exert pressure on the judiciary? Because, he and the SLPP know the results, quite well. The common opposition candidate shall be the person who got most preferential votes, at the last general election to make the best selection.
