India's legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has been invited to attend the unveiling of Muthiah Muralitharan's biopic- 800.

On Tuesday, the trailer of Murali's biopic will be released in Mumbai.

The 51-year-old Sri Lankan off-spinner ended his Test career with 800th wicket on July 22, 2010 in the Test match against India.

Incidentally, Murali is also a son in law of India. He married Madhimalar Ramamurthy, a Chennai native, on 21 March 2005. Madhimalar is the daughter of the late Dr S Ramamurthy of Malar Hospitals in Chennai.

The roles of Murali and his wife are being played by Madhur Mittal and Mahima Nambiyar.

The shootings of the biopic took place in India, Sri Lanka and England.

Murali will be present with the cast and crew of the film. Also invited is Sri Lankan great Sanath Jayasuriya. He will be present at the trailer as special guest. (Bipin Dani)

Sadly the country which gave him the opportunity to become a big man is sidelined in hosting the event. Lack of gratitude

why not Arujuna Ranatunga been invited, because of him, he was able to continue play test cricket after the debacle with Emerson in Australia. If he had not stood for him on that day his career would have ended with that match. Murali must haver invited him instead of Sanath

I agree, more than Tendulkar or Jayasuriya, Arjuna Ranatunga should be given first preference.

congrats team Murali well done Monday, 04 September 2023 03:21 AM

This effort is a marketing effort to promote the film and later may be his aluminum canning business etc in the much larger Indian market. that's why Sanaths name will be more popular than Arjuna. Also why it's held in India rather than Sri Lanka. Murali has done his bit for Sri Lanka. Let him now enjoy some business success as well.

He's a traitor to Sri Lanka as he "sold"a possible win at the World Cup in 2011. Those who know the actual events are aware of his doing. What else can you expect from a person of his genes?

Congratulations Murali. I have one question answer either way won't take away your greatness. Did India gift the last 800th wicket or did Murali actually take it?

@Sunil and Ranjit; This is an Indian Movie. Murali has no say on how, when or where to launch it. The Indian producers of the movie hold that control. Let us at least be proud that Murali as a Sri Lankan is worthily recognized like this.

response to Sunil- the country that gave Murali the opportunity is not producing this movie.

Very good. Congratulations Murali. You should have invited Sanga, Arjuna, Mahela and from India Kapil Dev, Ravi Sharshti and Gavaskar also, even from Pakistan Wassim Akram.
