SLPP heading for split

Colombo, March 29 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is heading for a split with one section insisting on fielding its candidate at the presidential election and the other advocating support for the candidacy of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Daily Mirror learns.

The SLPP faction which is loyal to the Rajapaksa family has firmed up its position that the party should participate in the election by fielding its candidate. When the party’s executive committee met, such an idea emerged, but further discussion did not take place on the matter since the election has not yet been declared.

However, the party’s MPs who currently hold positions in the government openly back the candidacy of the President.

Chief Government Whip Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said the SLPP, as a party, had no one competent enough to win the presidential elections and therefore the party should refrain from fielding a candidate. Also, he was openly critical of the appointment of MP Namal Rajapaksa as the national organizer. He said Mr. Basil Rajapaksa should have taken care of the responsibilities of such a post instead.

The presidential election is scheduled for October this year in terms of the Constitution. The SLPP hierarchy has also sought a snap general election ahead of the presidential election but the President has declined to do so.

Rw will not get even 5 percent. He is generally an unpopular politicians since he started contesting major elections. Only twice he won because of the major breakaway groups from slfp in 2001 and 2015. That is also while in opposition. At the moment he is very unpopular with taxing at 100000, tin for all,property tax to be introduced in 2025. So hardly any floating voter will vote for rw. Most of the guys who backs rw are highly corrupt individuals such as prasanna and lanza. Hardly anyone with a brain will vote him. Lol

It’s good it’s splitting up and eventually evaporated too. Their Moto is to drain the resources of the country and the citizens to live a miserable lifestyle at near poverty levels. At the same time, they must have a lavish lifestyle using whatever funds available from both the private and government sectors that are easily accessible at anytime to use.

They are split because now the Public know fully their capabilities. Both looking to further rob and survive by hanging onto any branch they presume will help them. Unfortunately, whichever branch these racketeers split, their doom is guaranteed subject to the Citizens. However, remember we have a 69% population who voted for these crooks last time with full knowledge of their rackets, corruption, thuggery and criminality. So, it all depends whether the citizenry has changed, realized and ready to drive and choose completely new leadership away from those senile bastards.

Hence SLPP knows they've no chance of winning against the formidable frontrunner AKD, therefore they're fielding Ranil as the candidate. It's like in 1994 when Gamini D. The tearing apart and internal disintegration of this party, which with its corrupt leadership has massively discredited and degraded Sri Lanka nationally and internationally, is highly desirable in the interests of the "rebirth" of a country that was once respected around the world!!! Sri Lanka and its people have not only enriched the world community historically and culturally, but also today still have a diverse natural and cultural potential that could benefit everyone through good, goal-oriented economic policies by corruption-free politicians!!! For this to happen, the de-election and destruction of the party and the old caste of politicians is an indispensable prerequisite!!!!
