SLPP MPs barred from going public on their support for presidential candidates

Colombo, April 11 (Daily Mirror)- In the wake of SLPP (Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna) MPS airing contrasting views over the upcoming elections, the party hierarchy has barred all MPS from making comments on their support to any presidential candidate until a formal decision is taken, a party official said yesterday.

The party’s executive committee took this decision at its meeting held last Tuesday.

The SLPP is currently divided on its support, with those holding positions in the government openly supporting the proposed candidacy of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.among them are ministers Susil Premajayantha, Prasanna Ranatunga and Ali Sabry.

Another faction insists on fielding its own candidate. Also, the party has decided to take stern disciplinary action against those who sided with other parties, violating the party constitution.

Obviously those holding Ministerial positions will vote for Ranil. However voters will vote this batch and previous batches of misfits off these coming elections. Most are responsible for the economic situation of the country but not affected by it. Still able to maintain a stable and lavish, luxurious lifestyle with perks and funds coming from every corner.

The only politician who can clean up the mess left behind by the ruling Rajapaksa/Ranil "caste" in SL would be the brilliant former general and field marshal Sarath Fonseka!!! With the help of good advisors and politically like-minded people, with toughness and perseverance, he is the only person who could put an end to the desolate, corrupt state of affairs that still exists!!! But unfortunately many in the country obviously see things differently and would much rather live off the utopian promises of bad and mediocre politicians, which can be found in most parties!!! So the future of Sri Lanka remains on a pessimistic course!!!
