COLOMBO (Daily Mirror)- Officials of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had written cheques amounting to billions of rupees during the last few days expecting that an interim committee would be appointed, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe said today.
The Minister told Parliament that the lights of the Dambulla International Cricket Stadium had been changed in a hurry at a cost of Rs. 1.5 billion during the last few days.
He also said there is a risk of important documents at SLC being misplaced.

If an immediate handing over was arranged that would have been acceptable. With the support of RW issue has gone to court, staying new Committee from working.

Minister Roshan Ranasinghe got hooted and booed by rural folk recently when he went to a school to open a new grass laying for the grounds. So he is not trying to re build his image with a cricket drama. But deep analysis of the interim committee shows for 3 unblemished legal luminaires, the rest are politically connected misfits including Arjuna himself who had a grudge against reputed schools like royal STC trinity and he deprived boys from such schools coming into the national team. Now we dont have such players and look at the calibre we have how many of them are honest, how many are tough enough and a deep study must be done on how to build our team technologically and analytically as well as mentally.

You are the Sports Minister. If you knew that corruption was taking place, why didn't you use your powers as a Minister to stop that? You do not need an interim committee to stop the wrong doing if you knew about corruption at SLC as reported to Parliament. You are playing a political game!

Massive corruption in SLC could be visualised, CID and COPF, in collaboration with the Inland Revenue Department should hasten their investigations to bring the fraudsters to book.

The public are sick of hearing corruption stories. TV, News Paper, News blogs it's all about corruption. And no one to take action against these morons.

Mr Roshan Ranasinghe, the sports minister is a great man. These are type of ministers the country needs today. Why is the president silent. Appoint the interim committee headed by former cricket captain Mr.Arjuna Ranatunga. Corruption must be wiped out totally. 1.5 billion spent on lights. This is a crime.
