SI suspended over drunk driving

Colombo, January 27 (Daily Mirror)- A Sub Inspector (SI) attached to the Kegalle Police has been interdicted over driving under the influence of liquor.

Police spokesman SSP Buddhika Manatunge said the SI had caused two road accidents while driving a police cab under the influence of liquor. He had injured a man but had driven the cab without stopping. He was stopped by the Warakapola Police who found that he was drunk.

The SI was produced before court today and was remanded till February 10.

He was suspended on the instructions of the DIG in charge of the Sabaragamuwa Province.
