Remains of prison officers killed in clash brought to Welikada

Colombo, July 8 (Daily Mirror) - The remains of the prison officers who lost their lives in the violent clash at the Negombo Prison were brought to the Welikada Prison premises in a motorcade this morning (08).

The bodies are scheduled to be handed over to their respective family members after final respects are paid by prison authorities and colleagues at the premises.

Seven officers attached to the Prison Special Tactics Unit were killed following a brutal assault by inmates during the unrest that erupted within the Negombo Prison on the morning of July 6.
