Colombo, April 4 (Daily Mirror) - The Court of Appeal today ordered the relevant Returning Officers to accept around 37 nominations which were originally rejected for the Local Government Elections.

The Court of Appeal bench comprised Justice (Acting President) M.T. Mohammed Laffar and Justice K.P. Fernando.

What are you saying. You want public officials to engage in bad and illegal conduct? Past head of Immigration who refused Supreme Court order to give up on illegal Visa processing deal with India is still in remand. Public officials need to removed form office if they are doing bad things.

So for future elections we do not need returning officers with this judgement. Just submit the set of names and get approval from court. Lets get rid of returning officers and save public funds. lol

How many other nominations were also wrongfully rejected Friday, 04 April 2025 02:24 PM

There are 10 times or greater number of nominations rejected based on the same reasons. But the poor persons rejected were not able to bring court action. There has to be further suing for justice or otherwise there will be much unfairness by way of Election commission.
