Rapper arrested with explosives

Colombo, Sept. 2 (Daily Mirror) - Popular rapper Madhava Prasad, known as 'Madhuwa' was arrested today by the Kahathuduwa Police with a stock of explosives in his possession.

Police said they recovered three sticks of gelignite, five detonators and 3.5 kilograms of ammonium nitrate during the raid.

Investigations revealed that a police constable—who had earlier been arrested and remanded by the Mannar Special Crimes Investigation Division for stealing a firearm from the Kotawila Police—had allegedly given the explosives to the rapper along with another accomplice.

Madhuwa had previously been arrested on August 25 for possessing a fake pistol. He was released on bail after being produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate.
