Rains of more than 100 mm likely in several districts

Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts,

the forecasting division of the National Meteorological Center said.

Meanwhile, thundershowers would occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, and Southern Provinces. 

Meanwhile, showers would occur in the Northern and North-Central Provinces and in Trincomalee district, and thundershowers would occur in the Uva and Eastern Provinces, particularly during the afternoon or night.

Strong winds up to 45 kmph can be expected at times over the western and southern coastal areas and along the western slopes of the central hills.

Therefore, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary, localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
