Rainfall expected to increase in southwest from July 28: Met Dept

Colombo, July 26 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has forecast a slight increase in rainfall in the south-western parts of Sri Lanka over the next few days from July 28.

Issuing its general weather forecast for the next 36 hours at 4.00 p.m. yesterday (July 26), the Department said several spells of showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Mainly dry weather conditions are expected to prevail in other parts of the island during this period.

The Department also warned that strong winds reaching speeds of around 40-50 kmph could occur at times in the western slopes of the Central Hills, Northern and North-Central provinces, and in the Hambantota, Trincomalee and Puttalam districts.
