Colombo, Jan 22 (Daily Mirror) - Almost all parapet walls in the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia area have been spoiled as people urinate on them, government MP Samanmalee Gunasinghe told Parliament today.

"People are compelled to urinate on walls as there are no proper toilet facilities in the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia area," the MP said.

"Even foreign tourists are compelled to go to the Fort Railway Station from the Dehiwala Station just to relieve themselves," she added.

She said the Clean Sri Lanka programme aims to prevent this situation.

Guys in Dehiwela mount areas piss in their pants too. They need quick toilet facilities since they don't have in their homes either.

This needs to be addressed everywhere. A diabetes patient needs to urinate regularly. Even the old folks need the same. Most people don't drink water if they are going out causing other health issues. Men has the luxury of urinating on walls or trees. What about the women. Maybe issue free pampers.

Dear Editor Greetings for a good day There are some Heavy weightage flower pots of installed by Dehiwala -Mount Lavinia Muincipal Council in the red pavements by blocking the pavement from Ratmalana to Dehiwala pavement. It is high time to build washrooms with similar facilities to southern expreasway or airports. This should be done at all major cities as we get mainly budget tourists. Central government should maintain them as urban councils hardly work or do their duties properly.

Where human and animals live or gatherings in public places it's natural thing they need public facility to be comfort or be relieve from their body ex: uring.. drinking water.. specially in summer period there is no drinking water in public. Even you find public drinking water facility in dessert countries. Ex: water coolers in public places even after providing public comfort facility if people urinating in public roads must be legal action Ex: fining or warnings.. there must be legal rules for those habits.

We citizens within Dehiwala/Mt.laviniya, having not only toilet facilities but most main roads are full of potholes and untidy too, though there are separate group for cleaning ditches,,seems no one is responsible or no proper supervision,which is the main reason for dengue spreading, though services deteriorated, but municipality increases tax every year

Absence of clean public toilets is a factor ignored by all administrations. The general assumption is that there are toilets in cafes when one needs one. Every town and city MUST have public toilets at least at 500 meters. More than that, there should be 24 hr maintenance staff who clean up every 2 hrs. For any visitor from overseas availability of clean toilets far superceded good food and luxury hotels. Sri Lankan public need to be taught how to use toilets without messiness and to keep them dry through community education programs.

People need to empty their bladders very often. Especially males who are suffering from prostrate need to pass urine very often. Well if there are no public toilets they have to find a place to use as a toilet. People cannot hold it for a long time. What about the poor ladies where can they go? Public toilets are a must in any country. In foreign countries wherever you go public toilets are there within a few km. This is a serious issue to be addressed in our country.

Sometimes these things happen.Even you urgently needs a pee you cant be searching for a public toilet 1 km away.Then what about females?I always see private long distance bus drivers and conductors parked at say D.RW.ijwardane Mw. Urining behind their buses.Bcos no public toilets available in that vicinity.

During a recent visit to Sri Lanka from overseas I went to the Fort Railway Station to purchase my railway ticket to travel to Kandy and the smell emanating from the toilets was just unbearable.
