Public should strictly adhere to curfew: Govt.

The Government today insisted that the public must strictly adhere to the curfew now in force island-wide.

In a statement, the President's Media Division (PMD) said the curfew has been imposed with the sole purpose of preventing the spread of COVID-19 which has now become a major health issue.

"The Task Force entrusted with the management of the essential food and other items distribution has taken all the necessary measures to ensure continued door to door supply of essential items for the people to purchase.

While the curfew is in force, no one should be on the roads at their freewill. Only the delivery vehicles permitted by the Task Force are allowed to ply. No other vehicle will be allowed on public roads without a valid curfew pass.

Traveling to and from between any district is entirely prohibited. Transporting foreign tourists from place to place is also banned. Paddy farming and plantation including work on tea small holdings and fishing activities are permitted in any district.

Airports and Ports will continue their regular operations. Police and the Tri-Force should strictly implement curfew regulations," the PMD said.

What we all have to understand is that, end of the day, this is public money despiet whoever makes the decision to mitigate virus spread. No doubt, curfew or strong actions like this kind of initiatves are very much required or even more stronger actions. Mean time, I would like to draw the attenton of authorities that, they must charge from the people who violates the law and order of the country rather than feeding them through taxes money which are our hard earn money. Even, if anyone needed luxuries at quarantine centers, just provide them on a fee. Built, luxuary places for them. Governement need money to run these centers. Why we ordionary people sufffer all the time?

the distribution is not organized. For everything Colombo is first and the rest can wait. The committee which handles comprises people with all facilities and a full stomach. The public will be arrested if going on the road. What they expect if all food is out at home. It will come to looting and riots

no distribution in place at all. People starving already. Colombo first. Just arresting people no solution. Committees which are planning are having full stomach and all facilities. Useless commissions. I observe that negative comments are not published.
