Principal arrested for sexually assaulting schoolgirl

A principal of a school in Pinnawala, Balangoda has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a schoolgirl, police said.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl living near the suspect's house.

Police said the girl has been hospitalised for treatment.

The  50-year-old principal, a resident of Balangoda will be produced before the Balangoda Magistrate's Court today.

The Balangoda Police are conducting further investigations.
