Principal arrested for sexually abusing girl

The Deputy Principal of a school in Galle was taken into custody on suspicion of having sexually abused a 12-year-old schoolgirl.

Police said the victim was one of the students attending a tuition class held by the suspect in his home.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had sexually abused the girl when she was alone waiting for her sister to take her home after the class and the other children had left.

The victim told police that the suspect took her into a room after the class was over at 12.30 pm and entertained her to tea and abused her. The suspect had also taken a photo of her breasts. (D.G. Sugathapala)
